Rejoice!

Song of the Day: “Again I say Rejoice” by Israel Houghton

“Rejoice in the Lord always.” Philippians 4:4

As we wait to be discharged from the hospital, we took some time to reflect on this entire journey. God is more than good! God is more than amazing! Our God is an awesome God.

Looking back at photos of Sevyn in the ER at Holy Cross it truly is amazing how far Sevyn has come. I believe God was with her and coaching her to keep breathing and keep fighting until doctors were able to stabilize her because otherwise she would not be here with us today. Everyday God showed up and showed out! He performs miracles and is always working.

Today marks the 24th day here at Children’s Hospital. When we created our slogan for Sevyn “STAY S7RONG - 24/SEVYN” , we had no idea how long we would be staying here. 24 DAYS later here we are. Today is 11/17 and we will no longer occupy room 717. You may believe its all coincidence… but I KNOW DEEP IN MY HEART… IT’S GOD!

9:30 AM - Last Rounds:

  • Last notes before discharge:

    • OT is making a splint mitten for Sevyn’s right hand

    • The goal is for her to drink 80% of her goal from the bottle for two days in a row, then the tube can come out

    • The pharmacist will stop by to discuss the wean plan for the steroids

So ready to get up out of here.

10:00 AM - Daddy practices putting the ng tube in for the first time

10:30 AM - Musician John came by to sing some sweet songs to Sevyn

10:45 AM - OT came to place the splint on her right hand.

Dad’s stone for the Healing Garden…

Update: The doctors were ready to discharge us, but we did not feel comfortable. We felt a bit rushed. We were only given about 24-48 hours to learn how to administer her blood thinner shot and ng feedings.

We also did not feel comfortable with the care and plan (or lack thereof) regarding her right hand.
